If you are a mid-career switcher looking to switch into retail, the SCTP is a train-and-place programme to support you in acquiring retail skills to start your first retail career. As part of SkillsFuture, you get a funding if you are either a Singaporean or Singapore PR!

Step 3: Figuring Funding

Up to 70% Funding

Funding Scheme: Base Subsidy 1

If you are a Singaporean or PR aged 21 and above, you can enjoy subsidies up to 70% of the course fee

EXAMPLE

If your course fee is $1000, you only have to pay $700, not including the GST and application fee

Up to 90% Funding

Funding Scheme: Mid-Career Enhanced Subsidy (MCES)

If you are a Singapore Citizen 40 years old and above, you can enjoy subsidies up to 90% of the course fee.

EXAMPLE

If your course fee is $1000, you only have to pay $100, not including the GST and application fee

Up to 95% Funding

Funding Scheme: Additional Funding Support (ASF)

Eligible Singapore Citizens that meet at least one of the following eligibility criteria can enjoy subsidies up to 95% of the course fee:

a. Long-term unemployed individuals (unemployed for 6 months or more); or
b. Individuals in need of

  • Long-term unemployed individuals (unemployed for 6 months or more)
  • Individuals in need of financial assistance - ComCare Short-to-Medium Term Assistance (SMTA) recipients or Workfare Income Supplement (WIS) recipients
  • Persons with Disabilities

Other Funding Options

1) SkillsFuture Credits

If you are a self-sponsored individual, you can use your SkillsFuture Credits to offset the course fee payable after funding

2) Post-Secondary Education Account (PSEA)

If you are a self-sponsored Singaporean below 31 years old, you can offset the course fee payable after funding with your Post-Secondary Education Account (PSEA)

3) Union Training Assistance Programme (UTAP)

If you are a self-sponsored NTUC member, you can offset the course fee payable after funding with their UTAP by up to $500, capped at 50% of course fees.
